AREWA24’s Management team in Kano is seeking a sharp, detail-oriented, multi-tasking Research Coordinator, who can move through a constant variety of special short-term research tasks quickly and on deadline, with excellent written and oral communications skills in Hausa and good, working communication in English.



Job Description/Sample Scope of Work



Support the AREWA24 Studio television production team with background research on talk/studio show guests and subject matter, searching and profiling new and interesting guests for AREWA24’s shows and/or show segments, looking for local events and for people making a difference in the local community, in business, entertainment, technology, agriculture, manufacturing and/or other fields.



Assist show producers with finding and booking guests and following up.

Support the drama writers with research about a wide variety of drama scripting subject matter, such as how certain professions do their work, ideal locations to shoot scenes, historical facts, period costumes, etc.



Follow the daily news and trending popular culture and lifestyle topics s in Nigeria and in other global regions through mainstream news and social media.

Support the Commercial team with research about consumer brands, their activities in Nigeria, new product launches, etc.



Conduct research on NGOs and developmental organizations to learn more about what these groups are doing in Northern Nigeria, which of their funded Donor projects are ongoing, contact searches, background summaries, etc.

Support the Executive team with a variety of short-term research projects related to our television, production and media industry.



Qualifications and Requirements


    • University degree or equivalent.

    • Ability to do focused searches and write concise summaries.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Hausa; good working knowledge of English.

    • Self-directed, takes initiative, and is able to work independently.

    • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.

    • Ability to move through projects relatively quickly, as appropriate for the task. unless the research subject matter requires longer timeframes.

     • Outstanding work habits, organization, follow-up, and staying on top of all.

     • Ability to work on a team and be a team player.

     • Must be able to pay keen attention to detail and be able to move from subject matter to subject matter fluidly.

     • Television, radio, or media experience is helpful, but not required.
