AfCFTA Research Grant Guidelines
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this grant, you must:
- Be a final-year Economics student enrolled in an accredited tertiary institution in Nigeria.
- Select a research topic related to the AfCFTA.
Application Requirements
A detailed research proposal. The proposal should include the research title, problem statement, objectives, methodology, expected outcomes, and a detailed proposed budget.
An application video of not more than 3 minutes 30 seconds telling us about yourself, name of your institution, title of your research, what motivated your choice of research and what you hope to achieve at the conclusion of the research work.
Guidelines for the video submission are as follows:
- Shoot with a good camera quality on a landscape mode
- Fix on a stable surface or a tripod if available.
- Ensure Adequate lightning
- Use a microphone if you can or shoot it in a quiet environment to minimize background sounds.
- Ensure your head and shoulders are in the frame and leave a little space above your head in the video.
- Upload your proposal document, application video and a letter of recommendation from your academic supervisor to google drive and submit the link on the registration form.
- A completed AFEL research grant application form on our website afel.africa.
Grant Obligations
Grant recipients will have the following obligations:
- Submitting progress reports and a copy of the final research report.
- Acknowledging AFEL’s support in all the research.
- Submitting a detailed expense report
Termination of Grant
- Support may be terminated under the following Conditions:
- Non-compliance with grant conditions: Failure to adhere to grant obligations such as reporting requirements, can lead to termination.
- Inadequate progress: If the research is not progressing as planned or fails to meet established milestones.
Failure to maintain required documentation:
- Lack of proper documentation or failure to submit required reports on time can result in termination.
- Misuse of funds: Any evidence of misappropriation or misuse of funds allocated for the research can lead to immediate termination.
- Unethical behaviour: Engaging in unethical practices, such as falsifying data, breaching confidentiality, or other forms of misconduct, may result in termination.
