About the Project

  • Data Aid is supporting a project through a Comprehensive Assessment of State-wide Traffic Management Systems with the aim of addressing the growing challenges of urban mobility, safety, and efficiency in major towns across the State. 
  • With rapid urbanization and increasing vehicular traffic, the existing transport infrastructure is under significant strain. 

    • This project seeks to evaluate the current traffic management systems, identify infrastructure gaps, and propose sustainable solutions to enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve public transport services. 
    • Key focus areas include the establishment of designated bus stops, terminals, and motor parks to streamline commuter movement, alongside the analysis of traffic volumes and route utilization to optimize route planning and reduce bottlenecks.

Role Summary

Data Aid is seeking twenty-one (21) qualified LGA Team Leads to manage and coordinate survey activities within their assigned Local Government Areas (LGAs). 

  • The LGA Team Lead will oversee a team of enumerators and surveyors, ensure data collection accuracy, and report progress to the central project team. 
  • This role is crucial for ensuring that traffic and infrastructure data gathered across various LGAs are reliable, comprehensive, and submitted within the specified timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination

  • Lead and supervise survey teams in assigned LGAs, ensuring all activities align with the project’s objectives and timelines.
  • Coordinate traffic counts, infrastructure assessments, and stakeholder consultations at the LGA level.
  • Conduct daily briefings and debriefings with field teams to resolve challenges and optimize data collection processes.

Data Management

  • Ensure accurate and timely data collection and entry into the centralized database.
  • Review and validate data submitted by enumerators and surveyors for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare and submit weekly progress reports and summaries to the Project Coordinator.

Stakeholder Engagement

Engage with local government officials, transport unions, and community leaders to facilitate survey activities.

Address concerns and ensure community cooperation during data collection.

Organize focus group discussions and community feedback sessions where necessary.

Training and Support:

Provide on-site training and support to enumerators and surveyors on data collection tools and methodologies.

Ensure that all team members adhere to data quality standards and ethical guidelines.

Logistics and Administration

Manage logistics for survey activities, including transport, materials, and allowances for team members.

Ensure proper use and maintenance of survey equipment such as GPS devices and mobile data collection tools.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in field coordination and managing survey projects.
    • Proven leadership skills with experience in supervising large field teams.
    • Proficiency in data collection tools (e.g., ODK, KoBoToolbox) and mobile-based data entry systems.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government officials and community members.
    • Demonstrated experience in preparing progress reports and managing project timelines.
